IPHour: Data Protection

Vishnumohan Rethinam and Cyril Abrol – Partners at the Firm – discussed the provisions of India’s new data protection law – the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 – in the latest edition of our webinar series IPHour.

Their conversation was peppered with several examples to showcase the real world impact of the new legislation. It also covered early bird implications for the ad-tech and online/social media spaces.

You can read a synopsis of the new law here. We now await release of the accompanying Rules which will add final nuances to the rights and obligations of all parties – data principals, processors and fiduciaries.
