Celebrating the IP of Artisans

International Trademark Association (INTA) and Dastkar, an Indian non-government organisation working with craftspeople across India for the promotion and revival of traditional crafts, provided Remfry & Sagar a wonderful opportunity to engage with the incredible artisans at Dastkar’s Summer Bazaar.

Bisman Kaur and Radha Khera spoke to them about the importance of protecting Intellectual Property and the legal tools available for safeguarding artisans’ valuable rights in their unique crafts. They also discussed in detail the government’s supportive policies and initiatives which aim to promote and protect the interests of artisans and craftspeople in India. A lively Q&A session followed the presentation which involved several in-depth discussions about the practical challenges faced by craftspeople in protecting their rights.

All in all, the vibrant interaction with the custodians of India’s cultural heritage was a very enriching experience.
