Report On Geographical Indications: Protecting Heritage Through IP close

Held on December 3, 2024, the theme of the conclave was ‘Innovative Bharat: India’s IP Ecosystem Paving the Future’. An address by the Controller General of Patents, Trademarks & Designs, Prof. (Dr.) Unnat P. Pandit, highlighted India’s rising position in the Global Innovation Index and the efforts being made by the government to create a robust IP ecosystem in the country.

Remfry & Sagar had the privilege of being the Knowledge Partner for the event and, in association with ASSOCHAM (The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India), released its report on ‘GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATIONS’ during the Conclave.

Bisman Kaur from the Firm spoke to the gathering on how protection of GI rights can effectively secure not just the preservation of age old crafts and maintain demand for unique products tethered to their geographic origin, but guarantee rising demand for such products in domestic and international markets.
